Celtic's Summer Target: Why Chelsea's Marc Guiu Could Be the Striker They Need

Celtic Eyes Striker Recruitment Ahead of Next Summer Transfer Window

Celtic Football Club is reportedly gearing up to bolster its attacking options next summer, following a challenging winter transfer window that saw the departure of key player Kyogo Furuhashi. The Japanese international moved to Ligue 1 side Rennes for a significant fee of £10 million, leaving a vacancy in the squad that Celtic failed to fill during the recent transfer period.

Summer Transfer Plans

Speculation is rife regarding Celtic's intention to sign a striker as they look to enhance their offensive capabilities ahead of the new season. During the winter transfer window, the club was linked with several potential candidates, including notable names like David Strelec, Kelechi Iheanacho, Danny Ings, and Mathias Kvistgaarden. However, none of these players were secured, leaving the club's attacking depth somewhat depleted.

Stamford Bridge's Marc Guiu: A Potential Target

Among the potential targets for Celtic is young striker Marc Guiu, who currently plays at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea. Guiu, who joined Chelsea from FC Barcelona last summer for a reported fee of around £5 million, has experienced limited playing time with the London club. Despite this, he has made a notable impact in the UEFA Conference League, netting six goals in just six appearances, which includes a stunning hat-trick against Shamrock Rovers.

Celtic's interest in Guiu could present a mutually beneficial opportunity for both clubs. A loan move could allow Guiu more first-team experience, while also providing Celtic with a potent goal-scorer as they seek to compete for titles and make a mark in European competitions. The prospect of playing in front of a passionate Celtic fanbase at the Champions League level might also appeal to the 19-year-old striker.

Loan Deal Possibilities

Considering Chelsea's investment in Guiu was relatively modest at £5 million, it is feasible that the London club could be open to loaning him out next summer. Such a scenario might include an option to buy, allowing Celtic to secure Guiu on a permanent basis should he impress during his stint at Parkhead.

Guiu's Career Highlights

Before his move to Chelsea, Marc Guiu had already made a name for himself with FC Barcelona, where he scored two goals in seven senior appearances. His ability to find the back of the net and his development at one of Europe's top clubs could make him an asset for Celtic as they look to reinforce their squad in the upcoming transfer window.

As the summer approaches, all eyes will be on Celtic and their transfer strategies, particularly as they aim to replace the talent lost in Furuhashi and continue their pursuit of success in both domestic and European competitions. With Guiu on their radar, Celtic fans may have reason to be optimistic about potential new signings in the near future.
